 Nearly one year ago, on Jan. 18, 2020, before the world went on lockdown due to COVID, there was another danger making news in Big Bear Lake. A family of three, ignoring warning signs to stay off the ice, fell through into the chilly waters of Big Bear Lake near Stanfield Cutoff.

 Coaches, young athletes, the CIF, schools and parents await the California Department of Public Health's updated guidelines for youth sports next week. On Dec. 30, the public health department issued an updated youth sports guidelines fact sheet updated with the Dec. 29 county tier status.

The mountain scenery replaced the view on a screen. Big Bear streets and trails were busy with people going outside to enjoy the fresh air.
